Certificate: Accounting

Accountants provide specialist services to commercial and non-commercial organisations ensuring that they are financially sound and comply with legal requirements and regulations. Their main areas of work are financial accounting, bookkeeping and business advisory/ financial services. The Certificate: Accounting supports the skills and competencies required to handle financial accounting and reporting, apply the principles of information management and meet legal framework requirements relevant to commerce and finances.

Diploma: Accounting

The Diploma: Accounting provides students with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform effectively in the corporate arena. This Qualification was developed in partnership with industry to meet their needs and produce employable students with relevant skills in the field of Accounting. As an accountant you will specialise in providing information and advice to managers in large and small businesses and non-commercial organisations. Specific skill sets informed by the programme include accounting skills, legal and management information knowledge, knowledge of the organisational framework, information analysis, taxation, auditing and financial decision-making, as well as knowledge of management accounting techniques.

Diploma: Bookkeeping

The Diploma: Bookkeeping supports the transfer of knowledge and skills in the areas of accounting, business economics, business calculations, office practice and management. In addition, the programme enhances competency in entrepreneurship, taxation, commercial law and auditing. These skills will enable the ability to handle financial bookkeeping professionally and in line with General Accepted Accounting principles.

Higher Certificate: Accounting

Accounting specialists serve the purpose of providing support for departmental activities, with specific responsibility for the processing, recording, updating and reconciling of fiscal information in compliance with established policies; providing instructions, recommendations and/or accounting support to other personnel; and analysing expenditures against budget. The Higher Certificate: Accounting focuses on knowledge and skills relevant to the accounting and legal frameworks, management information as well as information analysis and the business and auditing frameworks informing this critical business function. The Qualification was developed in partnership with industry to meet their needs and produce employable students with relevant skills in the field of Accounting.
