Career Opportunities
Once you’ve gained your skills as a make-up artist, you have all sorts of options:
- You could start your own home-based business as a make-up artist offering your service to photographers and the film or television industry.
- Alternatively, you could apply for a position as a consultant at a make-up house, or offer your services to beauty salons in your area, specialising in make-up application for various occasions.
Entrance Requirement
We strongly recommend that you have English language skills in reading and writing equivalent to Grade 10 (Std. 8).
Course Duration
You should be able to complete this course within 6 to 12 months.
Course Content You will start with a brief look at the purpose and history of makeup, before learning how to use the appropriate tools to apply the correct colours and tones for different people and occasions. The course includes the following topics: - Purpose of make-up application
- Brief history of make-up
- Theory of colour and lighting and their importance and effects in make-up application
- Tools required for make-up application
- Hygiene and maintenance of tools
- Make-up products
- Skin type Analysis
- Identifying Face and Eye shapes
- Setting up a workstation
- Consultations
- Applying day, evening, bridal and photographic make-up
- Promoting make-up services
Assessment
All the required assignments must be completed and sent to the College for marking. All assignments must be successfully passed in order to obtain the award.
Award
After successfully completing the formative assessments, you will be awarded an INTEC Make-up Artist Short Course Certificate.
