INTEC Introduction to Photography Short Course Certificate - Career Starter
Taking a good photograph requires a combination of excellent technical know-how and artistic flair. This course has been designed to develop these two necessary attributes - while allowing you to have fun and gain valuable practical experience at the same time.
Two types of students study this course: enthusiastic amateurs and those who wish to gain an insight into the exciting and widely diverse arena of professional photography. Programme Type
The photography programme is part of the INTEC Career Starter Series. The INTEC Introduction to Photography Short Course Certifi cate is an INTEC short course, which is not an accredited NQF qualification.

Entrance Requirement
We strongly recommend that you have English language skills in reading and writing at Grade 10 (Std. 8) level. Your equipment required for this course is a basic digital camera.
Course Outcomes
The course will help you to understand the basics of photography and teach you how to take great images.
Course Duration
You should be able to complete this course within 12 months.

- Light: How images are formed
- Lenses: Controlling the image
- Camera types common to both digital and film capture
- Using different focal length lenses
- Digital Cameras: Basic operation, function and theory
- Lighting principles and equipment
- Organising the picture
- Filters for use with digital cameras
- Exposure measurement theory and techniques
- The digital image: post production
Assessment
All the required assignments must be completed and sent to the College for marking. All assignments must be successfully passed in order to obtain the award.
