Entrance Requirement
Grade 10 (Std. 8) or equivalent or relevant work experience.
Course Outcomes
The skills and knowledge that you will gain through this course will familiarise you with the following: - Choosing an appropriate garden design style
- Developing a waterwise garden
- Assessing the climatic conditions of your garden
- Establishing a suitable place for seating arrangements based on the aspect of the garden
- Choosing aesthetically pleasing functional and decorative hard landscaping elements for your site
- Creating different effects in your garden using plant forms, textures and colours
- Creating a planting framework for your garden and choosing plants for your planting areas
- Using scale drawings effectively to design gardens
- Preparing and evaluating final working drawings for your garden design
Course Duration
You should be able to complete this course within 12 months.

- What is Garden Design?
- What do you want from your garden?
- Workspace and tools
- Elements and principles of Garden Design
- Establishing ground patterns
- Common ways of categorising plants
- Regional gardening
- Costing and preparing for implementation
Assessment
All the required assignments must be completed and sent to the College for marking. All assignments must be successfully passed in order to obtain the award.
Award
After you successfully complete your assessments, you will receive your INTEC Garden Design Certificate.
